PREAMBLE
We declare and establish this constitution to preserve and secure the principles of our faith and to govern the body in an orderly manner. This Constitution will preserve the liberties of each individual church member and the freedom of action of this body in its relation to other churches.
CHURCH NAME
This body shall be known as the Jeffersontown Baptist Church, located at 10011 Taylorsville Road, Jeffersontown, Kentucky, 40299.
CHURCH OBJECTIVES
We, the Jeffersontown Baptist Church, believe we are called by God to celebrate,
seek and share Jesus.
Our objectives are:
1.To celebrate Jesus in worship.
2. To seek Jesus through the study of God’s word.
3. To share Jesus with all those with whom we come in contact.
ARTICLES OF FAITH
We accept the Baptist Faith and Message as the source of our Articles of Faith, from which all doctrinal teaching will follow. Specific to this the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired by God’s revelation of Himself to man. There is one and only one living and true God revealed to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Christ is the eternal Son of God. His death on the cross made provision for the redemption of men from sin. The church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel.
In total the Baptist Faith and Message speaks to eighteen areas of spiritual concern as follows: The Scriptures, God, Man, Salvation, God’s Purpose of Grace, The Church, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, The Lord’s Day, The Kingdom, Last Things, Evangelism and Missions, Education, Stewardship, Cooperation, The Christian and the Social Order, Peace and War, Religious Liberty and The Family.
A copy of the Baptist Faith and Message is available upon request at the Church Office.
RELATIONSHIPS
The government of this church is vested in the body of believers who compose it. It is subject to the control of no other ecclesiastical body, but it recognizes and sustains the obligations of mutual counsel and cooperation which are common among Baptist churches. Insofar as is practical with the autonomy of the local church, this church will cooperate with and support the local associations and state convention affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.
